A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died two weeks after he was assaulted at a pub in West Yorkshire.

The incident took place at about 23:30 BST on 9 October at the Red Lion pub, on Batley Road, Wakefield.

Tony Powles, 62, was taken to hospital after the incident and died on Wednesday, West Yorkshire Police said.

Harry Mannion, 27, of Springfield Grange, Wakefield, was previously charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and has been further arrested on suspicion of murder, the force said.

Mr Mannion remains in police custody, officers added.

In a tribute, Mr Powles' family said he was "loved by all who knew him".

"It breaks our hearts that you are no longer here to see our milestones, share our memories and forever moments," they said.

"It is devastating you can no longer live when you had so much to give and live for."

They said his death had left "a massive hole in all our lives".
