Driver dies and passenger critical after tree crash

A man has died after crashing his car into a tree, while his passenger has been critically injured.

They were travelling on Church Road, Urmston at about 01:15 GMT when the driver "lost directional control", Greater Manchester Police said.

The 26-year-old died from his injuries while his passenger, a 22-year-old man, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police are asking anyone with information or footage to contact them as part of their investigation.
