A man has admitted murdering his friend in an attack with a broken bottle in a Lincolnshire market town.
Viktors Zeglovs, 34, of no fixed address, was charged with the murder of Vadims Zmicerevskis, 45, following an incident at the junction of Green Lane and St Thomas Road in Spalding on 11 November 2024.
Zeglovs, who had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge and was due to stand trial, appeared at Lincoln Crown Court via videolink from prison.
He is due to be sentenced on 11 December.
The incident came after "a relatively trivial argument" that escalated quickly, with Zeglovs driving a broken bottle towards his friend's throat, the court was told.
Prosecutor John Lloyd Jones KC said it was accepted that whatever Zeglovs' intentions were that day he did not set out to kill his friend, adding that the defendant could be seen on CCTV footage acting with remorse and tending to his dying friend.
"Unsurprisingly, he died," the barrister added.
Adjourning the case, Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight told Zeglovs: "I will determine what your intent was."
Zeglovs, who is from Latvia and followed the hearing via a Russian interpreter, was remanded back into custody.
