A former Worcester city councillor and women's charity director has died.

Chris Cawthorne, who died aged 77, was first elected to represent the St John's ward for Labour in 2012. She served for nine years and was a member of the licensing and environmental health committee and planning committee until she stepped down in May 2021.

A Worcester City Council spokesperson said Ms Cawthorne received "many warm tributes" when she attended her final full council meeting in March 2021.

Before being elected, Ms Cawthorne worked for the probation service and had been a director of the Asha Women's Centre. She was also a chair of the Friends of Cripplegate Park.

Maggs, Worcester YMCA, Worcester Play Council, Worcester Citizen's Advice Bureau and the Hopmarket Charity, were other organisations she gave her time to.
