A pedestrian was struck by a van in the early hours, police say

Two men have been arrested after a pedestrian was struck by a van, leaving him seriously injured.

Greater Manchester Police said the man, in his 30s, was hurt on Bleasdale Street in Royton, Oldham, at about 01:45 BST.

He was taken to hospital, the force said.

Two men, one in his 30s and one in his 60s, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody for questioning.

Part of Bleasdale Street has been cordoned off while officers investigate.
