Four friends from Guernsey have travelled to Sweden to take part in their first marathon to raise money for a local charity.

Luke Hill, Jordon Fletcher, Sam Ferry and Jakada Sandiford will take part in the Stockholm marathon on Saturday.

The men are fundraising for Male Uprising Guernsey (MUG), which raises awareness of male cancers and general well-being in the bailiwick.

Sam Ferry said running a marathon was a "bucket list item" for the group, who have always enjoyed fitness.

Jordon Fletcher said the group chose the Stockholm marathon as it gave them a "realistic timeframe" to train but still "strike while the iron was hot", but had not realised how popular the race was.

Luke Hill said they picked MUG as their charity after signing up for the 24,000 strong marathon as they saw the "good work" it does, especially among Guernsey's sport community.

He said the group were "overwhelmed by the support and donations" they had received.
