Man killed and two seriously injured in collision

A man in his 80s has died and two other people have suffered serious injuries in a crash in Staffordshire.

It happened on Leek Road, Longsdon, at 08:20 BST on Sunday and involved a silver Volkswagen Golf car and a blue Volkswagen Caddy van, police said.

The man, who was a passenger in the van, was found in a serious condition and despite crews administering advanced life support he died at the scene.

The drivers of the Caddy and Golf were taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment, police added.

Three ambulances and an air ambulance attended the scene.

Anyone with information was urged to contact police.
