Details of new Bergerac series plot emerge

More details have emerged about the plot of the new series of Bergerac, filmed in Jersey this summer.

A new promotional video, external shows waves crashing on the island's shores and Damian Moloney as the title character in despair after the death of his wife.

The plot follows the murder of one of the island's wealthiest residents, producers revealed.

Tricia Warwick, CEO of Visit Jersey, said she was "delighted" to welcome the cast and crew to Jersey this summer.

'Showcase Jersey'

Actor Damien Molony, from Ireland, best known for TV work including Being Human, Ripper Street and Suspects takes on the lead role of Jim Bergerac.

Ms Warwick said: "The modern re-imagining of Bergerac presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase Jersey on the global stage, connecting with devoted fans of the original series and a new generation of viewers eager to visit the locations featured in the show."

The original BBC series aired from 1981 to 1991 and featured John Nettles as the title character - a detective sergeant in the fictional Bureau des Etrangers, a department for non-residents in the Channel Island of Jersey.

The new series will be available to watch on U and U&Drama channels from February.
