A two-phase reconstruction of a main road is to start next week, Hull City Council has confirmed.

The repair of Anlaby Park Road South will take a total of eight weeks to complete, lasting until mid-November.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo said it was part of the council’s plan to “futureproof” Hull’s roads.

“I would also like to apologise in advance for any disruptions these works may cause, particularly to residents of Anlaby Park Road South," he said.

Diversions

Phase one of the repairs, between Tilbury Road to 113 Anlaby Park Road South, will take place between 23 September and 25 October.

Phase two, between 113 and 174 Anlaby Park Road South, is due to take place between 26 October and 15 November.

The council said the pedestrian footpath would remain open and residents of Anlaby Park Road South would have their bins emptied as usual.

Signed diversion routes will be in place via Tilbury Road, Bethune Avenue, and Gower Road, depending on the direction of travel.

For people travelling from the north to Christopher Pickering Primary School, the diversion will extend to Hessle Road and Graham Avenue leading onto Burnham Road, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

“We urge motorists to take note of the diversion routes, plan their journeys in advance, and use an alternative mode of transport if possible," Ieronimo said.

The work has been funded by Hull City Council’s Highway Capital Programme and will be carried out by Wright Civil Engineering Limited.
