Works are about to get under way on a main road in Hull.

Hull City Council said essential maintenance work on Bricknell Avenue would start on 26 August and take around two weeks to complete.

It involves reconstructing and resurfacing a failed area of the carriageway, the authority said.

To minimise disruption, highways officials said the works would be carried out in two phases.

The second phase would involve overnight road closures, with a diversion route in place for inbound traffic via Hull/Cottingham Road and Fairfax Avenue.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads, and highways, said: “This type of work is vital to ensure the longevity and reliability of our roads, as well as enhancing the overall driving experience for residents and visitors alike.

“We understand that roadworks can be inconvenient, and we thank residents and motorists for their patience and understanding whilst we carry out these works.”
