Somerset in Pictures: Thieving seagulls and pumpkins

Autumn blossoms beautifully across the county this week, with nature turning from green, to yellow to amber.

Pumpkin picking, spectacular murals and a daring rescue await...

Pinky the horse was saved from a water-filled ditch in Yatton by Avon Fire and Rescue Service.

It took them two hours using water rescue equipment and a farmer's telehandler.

Henry and Daisy boarded the West Somerset Railway to get to the vets after the A39 in Washford was closed due to an oil spill.

Instead of battling the busy, narrow, twisting back roads on the outskirts of Exmoor to visit the vets in Minehead, their owner Christopher Wade decided to catch the train.

Pumpkin picking mania has exploded in the West as pick-your-own patches have become increasingly popular.

Fairfield Pumpkins near Yeovil, Somerset, started pick-your-own pumpkin patches five years ago and said the number of visitors had risen each year.

Two Royal Navy helicopter engineers based in RNAS Yeovilton discovered their fathers also served together 26 years ago aboard HMS Exeter.

Harvey Lewis and Sam Skelson were maintaining a Wildcat helicopter aboard frigate HMS Iron Duke when Harvey made the discovery.

They said it was "surreal" recreating the 1999 photo of their fathers.
