Three teenagers have been injured in a stabbing near Portobello beach in Edinburgh.

Police were called shortly before 23:00 on Saturday after reports of a disturbance near the beachfront on Bath Street and Mentone Avenue.

Officers said a 17-year-old male and two 18-year-old males were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where their condition is described as stable.

A large section of the Portobello beach promenade and the beach remained cordoned off on Sunday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Inquiries into the incident are continuing."
