CCTV footage has been shared of two men police are searching for after a man was shot getting out of a taxi in Liverpool.

The 27-year-old victim took himself to hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower leg at 22:10 GMT on Monday 28 October, Merseyside Police said.

The attack is believed to have happened about 30 minutes earlier on Denman Drive, Tuebrook, as he got out of a private hire vehicle.

Detectives have now released images of two men walking along nearby Prescot Road at 22:07 that evening, who they say could have information that will assist the investigation.

'Reckless'

The victim has since left hospital.

Det Ch Insp Phil Atkinson, from the force's firearms investigation team, said he hoped the images could "jog someone's memory" and urged anyone who may have seen the men to come forward "as a matter of urgency".

“To open fire at someone in such a reckless manner could clearly have had much more serious if not fatal consequences," he said.

“Information from the public is vital if we are to breakdown the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets and I would appeal to anyone who has information to come forward.”
