Final chance for area plan inquiry registration

The registration period for people who want to contribute to a public inquiry in a plan which sets out future development land in two regions of the Isle of Man is set to come to a close.

First published in 2022 and heavily amended in March, the Draft Area Plan for the north and west is set to be discussed in July.

Would-be participants have until 17:00 BST to register their interest online, external, with the deadline for sending in written submissions set for 21 June.

While the inquiry itself will be open to everyone, only those who register in advance will be able to actively take part.

Hearings

Led by an independent planning inspector, the hearing will start on 16 July with four days of discussions at the Masonic Hall in Ramsey.

A further four-day hearing will then be held at QEII High School in between 23 and 26 July.

The areas covered by the draft plan include Ramsey, Glen Mona, Andreas, Jurby, Bride, Kirk Michael, St John's, Foxdale, and Peel.

Proposals outlined within it include the earmarking of land for the development of some open spaces into residential and employment projects.

Following the inquiry, and subject to its adoption by the Cabinet Office, the plan go before Tynwald for approval.
