Witness appeal after fatal collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was killed in collision with a car near Ashton Gate in Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police were called at around 17:30 BST on Sunday to the accident on the A370 Brunel Way.

The female pedestrian was taken to hospital but died of her injuries.

A woman in her sixties has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs. She has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.

The road was closed to traffic travelling into Bristol before being reopened at around 21:00 BST.

The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being helped by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

The police are asking for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the accident, or have dashcam footage, to get in contact.
