A number of suspected dog poisonings have been reported in parks in Ipswich.

Ipswich Borough Council said several reports had been made by owners on social media about its parks and open spaces.

It has encouraged anyone who thinks their dog may have been poisoned to report it to police and seek a vet.

Hannah Leys, assistant director of operations at the council, said it was "taking these reports very seriously".

"We want our parks and open spaces to be enjoyed safely by everybody and we can assure residents that the council, along with other agencies, are investigating these incidents of suspected poisoning," she added.

Extra patrols across the area's parks and open spaces were also being conducted, she said.

The council added it was in contact with local vets and they had also been asked to report any incidents or concerns.

Suffolk Police said it had not been made aware of any reports of suspected poisonings in Ipswich.
