Guernsey film makers are looking for extras to be part of a feature length pirate movie being filmed in the bailiwick.

Guernsey Filmworks has been working on a production with UK's High Fliers Films called Captain Hook: Curse of the Eldritch Tides.

Part of the film has already been shot in the water around Herm but Filmworks is now looking for extras for scenes in St Peter Port and Vale.

The next round of filming is due to begin in August, with the movie scheduled for release in 2025.

Director Lars Janssen, who is based in Guernsey, has put out a casting call for locals who want to be part of the project.

He has already filled his quota of people to play British Redcoat soldiers but said he still needed men and women, external for a "market scene" to be shot at Vale Castle.

The Redcoats will be filmed in Castle Cornet, a location Mr Janssen said was "an honour" to shoot in.

He added the project was the first feature-length film shot on the island and using the castle "since the 1970s".

Some of the film has already been shot in the water around Herm using a replica of an 18th Century frigate called Shtandart.

Mr Janssen described the film as "a very free adaptation, so we won't see Peter Pan and it's definitely not for children".

Guernsey Filmworks is collaborating on the project with High Fliers Films, a London-based film distributer.

Mr Jansen said the distributor was aiming to release the film "worldwide" via streaming, video on demand and DVD.

"They also have big plans for international theatrical releases which will include Guernsey, after the local premiere there will be a limited theatrical run at the Mallard," he added.
