City's Christmas event marks start of festivities

The first in a month-long calendar of Christmas market events is taking place in Hull at the weekend.
The Hull Christmas Festival, in Zebedees Yard, will include a traditional Christmas market, food and drink stalls, and entertainment.
There would also be street performers and free face painting throughout the day, the city council said.
The event, which features the Boogie Bugle Babes, runs from 10:00 GMT to 18:00 on Saturday.
Councillor Rob Pritchard, Hull City Council's portfolio holder for culture and leisure said: “Now the festive season has officially begun following the Christmas lights switch-on, this festival is another fantastic reason to visit the city centre.
“We have a fantastic selection of Christmas markets taking place every weekend through December," he added.
Themed markets will run in Trinity Square every Saturday until 21 December.
