The opening hours of Guernsey's green waste centre have been reduced for winter.

From 27 October to 30 March, the household green waste site at Mont Cuet will be open on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays between 10:00 and 16:00 GMT and closed on all other days.

Guernsey Waste said the change reflected the lower volume of green waste produced by islanders in colder months.

In the summer, the site was open until 18:00 on weekdays, all day on Sundays and on bank holidays.

Douglas Button, Guernsey Waste minimisation and sustainability officer, said the new site had been "extremely well-received" by residents.

"The new opening times are intended to align with customer demand, which reflects the seasons," he said.
