A police station will open its doors to allow the public to meet its officers, and take tours of its custody suite.

Malinsgate Station, Telford, will open on Sunday 15 September to all ages.

West Mercia Police said it followed the success of a 2023 open day, which saw 5,000 visitors through the doors.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for the public to come along and meet some of their local officers, and offer members of the public a unique look at what a working police station looks like," said Insp Richard Jones.

"The event is completely free, and I would encourage anyone interested in policing, or anyone who wants to experience first-hand what our job looks like, to come along on the day."

The public can also meet police dogs, learn about jobs in the force, and take part in activities, including investigating a "crime scene".

The station will be open from 11:00 BST, but will host a quiet hour beforehand, from 10:00 to 11:00 BST, to allow those with special educational needs and disabilities to visit.

"As I develop my police and crime plan, my team will be there throughout the day looking to speak to as many of you as possible to understand your priorities over the next four years," said West Mercia police and crime commissioner, John Campion.
