Footage has been released of a drink driver minutes after he crashed his car, killing a man, in Deal.
Jack Nixon, 27, had spent the night drinking in Canterbury before deciding to drive home and give three people a lift.
In the video, which shows Nixon being breathalysed by police, he said: "I don't even care about other people, I just want to go bed."
Nixon, of Cannon Street, Deal, admitted causing death by driving while over the prescribed limit, causing death by driving while unlicensed, and causing serious injury by careless driving at Canterbury Crown Court. He was jailed for nine years and six months when he was sentenced on 7 November 2024.
With three people in his car, Nixon crashed into a railway bridge on Cornwall Road, Deal, on 9 October 2022.
One man, 21, died and the other two passengers were injured.
Nixon only held a provisional driving license and no valid insurance or MOT, according to Kent Police.
The breath test showed Nixon had 58mg of alcohol in 100ml of his breath. The legal limit is 35mg.
A drugs test also showed cannabis in his system and Kent Police said they found a bag of cannabis and ketamine in the vehicle.
Upon release from prison, he will be disqualified from driving for seven years.
Investigating officer Det Con Kayleigh Archer said Nixon's actions that night had "far-reaching, tragic repercussions for all involved, as well as their families and friends".
