Man in his 70s killed in crash with van

A man in his 70s died after a crash involving the car he was driving and a van.

The collision happened on Wednesday afternoon on the A508 between Hanging Houghton and Brixworth in Northamptonshire.

Police said the man died, "despite the best efforts of paramedics".

Investigators are appealing for anyone who saw the crash or has dash-cam footage to get in touch.

Northamptonshire Police said the crash happened at around 14:25 BST, when a black Toyota Yaris travelling southbound on the A508 collided with a silver Mercedes Sprinter van going in the opposite direction.

Paramedics were unable to save the Toyota driver, while the driver of the van sustained minor injuries.
