Girl, 5, seriously injured in electric bike crash

A five-year-old girl has been left seriously injured after being hit by what police believe was an electric bike.

The crash happened in Hillrich Park, off Slipper Lane, in Mirfield, at about 18:05 BST on Wednesday.

The girl was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

West Yorkshire Police said a 25-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury and being over the prescribed limit for drugs in connection with the incident.

The force said he was later released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Witnesses to the crash, particularly anyone with footage of what happened, have been asked to come forward.
