Flight delay family saw 'mice and bugs' in hotel

A mother from South Yorkshire has said her family's holiday ended in disaster after they had to stay in an unclean hotel when their flight home was cancelled.
Jodie Tracey, from Wickersley, Rotherham, was due to fly back from Antalya, in Turkey, on Thursday with her three children and her mother Denise.
A spokesperson from Jet2 said the family and other holidaymakers were given accommodation after "adverse weather conditions" meant the flight to East Midlands Airport could not go ahead.
Now back in the UK, Ms Tracey told the BBC the hotel was unclean and she saw bugs, mice and cigarette ash in the room, which she described as "unbelievable".
She said: “We should have flown out early evening but that didn’t happen, then it got to about 01:00 or 02:00 BST, when they kept changing us to different gates and gave us some meal vouchers.
“Then they said they would put us all on coaches and into hotels that would be four or five star, but when we looked up the name and saw the reviews, they were all saying: ‘do not stay here’.
“We got on a full coach of people at 04:30 and then told to go with a man, even though we so tired at this point, he took us across a huge square where there were stray dogs running round and it was a bit scary and all the children in the group were crying.
"It was terrible.”
She added that when they eventually got to their new hotel at about 05:00, "people didn't want to stay there" and there were not enough rooms for everyone.
Ms Tracey said: "They went back to the airport and waited it out, which wasn’t comfortable, but we stayed at the hotel.
"Five of us went into the room, and there were just three little beds.
"The room was just unbelievable, I don't want this to happen to someone else."
A spokesperson for Jet2 said the issues were caused by “adverse weather conditions”, which meant the outbound flight from East Midlands to Antalya was diverted to Dalaman.
The delay meant that the inbound flight, Antalya to East Midlands, which the family were due to fly on, had to stop in Antalya overnight due to crew running out of operating hours.
The spokesperson said: “Our teams worked very hard to look after everyone including arranging hotel accommodation.
“We understand the inconvenience that this may have caused, and we would like to apologise to customers affected by this unforeseen delay, which was completely beyond our control.”
