Jersey residents in St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter are the most satisfied with their parishes, according to a survey.

In the north west of the island, 72% of respondents to the 2024 Opinions and Lifestyle Survey said they were "very satisfied" with where they lived.

The annual government survey covers all aspects of life in Jersey.

It revealed adults that lived in rural parishes were more satisfied with where they lived than their urban counterparts. Survey organisers said it was "partially driven by the rural parishes having an older and more affluent profile".

In comparison, only 22% of St Helier residents and 29% of people in St Saviour replied that they were "very satisfied".

Ben, from St Peter, agreed with the findings and said: "The community spirit and the fact you've got two pubs, two supermarkets, the school, and the beaches down the road - what more do you want?"

Constable of St Saviour, Kevin Lewis, said the parish faced challenges and more than 14,000 people lived there - the second largest population in Jersey.

"We have over 13 schools in the parish and that has its own challenges with traffic, which we're trying to manage.

"Obviously traffic is a problem but we are working with the Department for Infrastructure to try and alleviate that as much as we can."

The parish's five-year plan for improvements includes providing new parks and building more housing for young couples.

In total, 1,200 people responded to the survey.
