Extra time to question man over fatal shooting

Police are continuing to question a man in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old who was shot dead on Monday afternoon.
West Midlands Police said it had been given extra time to speak to a 22-year-old man after Connor Brookes was killed during the shooting in Walsall.
A 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, who were also arrested earlier this week, have been bailed with strict conditions meaning they must stay out of Walsall while inquiries continue.
Police said they were leaving no stone unturned as they sought to work out what happened.
Specialist officers are supporting Mr Brookes’ loved ones, the force added.
His family issued a tribute earlier this week saying he had a "heart of gold" and was a "beautiful son, brother and uncle".
"We are all devastated at the loss we have suffered, such a tragic loss of life at such a young age when he had his future ahead of him," they said.
Another man was wounded and treated in hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
It is believed a van was shot at, injuring one passenger and killing another, on Well Lane in Blakenhall.
“We know how upsetting this has been for the community and we remain keen to hear from anyone with information about the fatal shooting,” a spokesperson for West Midlands Police said.
Local councillor Izzy Hussain said locals in Blakenall had come together in solidarity following Mr Brookes' death.
The shooting in broad daylight has rocked the community, but Ms Hussain said residents were like a big family and had supported one another since the tragedy.
In a meeting with police and council officials, she said she was promised more police personnel would be in the area and that stop and search powers would be in place for as long as needed.
