India faces 'painful and protracted slowdown'

India faces a "painful, protracted period of slowdown", according to Deutsche Bank economist Taimur Baig.

He told the BBC's Asia Business Report that as the tide of cheap dollars had ebbed of late, underlying problems in the country's economy had been laid bare.

And he highlighted a disconnect between the government's policies and the market's reactions.
