Blue plaque honour for watchmaker George Daniels

A commemorative blue plaque has been unveiled at the former Ramsey home and studio of the late watchmaker Dr George Daniels in the Isle of Man.

The London-born watchmaker moved to the Isle of Man in 1982, dedicating himself to watchmaking in a career spanning 60 years.

Fellow watchmaker Roger Smith said his achievements were "astonishing."

Homeowner Martin Rissbrook, who now lives in the property, added:" We were extremely honoured. He was a very important part of watchmaking history."

It is the third blue plaque to be awarded on the island, following the Bee Gees and Archibald Knox.
