Paul Lewis: Why inflation is starting to bite

Inflation is having an impact on us all as the cost of essentials such as food, heating and transport have risen.

However, the price rises have effected some more than others. Campaigners for the elderly say they are hit hardest by soaring prices because they spend most of their fixed income on essential goods.
