Vince Cable: Hiring should be 'without fear of a tribunal'

New plans to make it harder for people to take their former bosses to an employment tribunal are being unveiled by the government.

Ministers want to increase the qualifying period for unfair dismissal claims from one to two years, and bring in a new fee.

Employment Tribunal claims rose to 236,000 last year - a record figure.

Trade Unions are warning the plans are unfair to employees but the Business Secretary Vince Cable says it is essential to give businesses that want to expand the confidence to hire more staff.
