Commemorative coin 'explains off-side rule'
It has been 40 years since the UK 'went decimal' and the tanner, shilling, florin and half crown disappeared from our pockets. Dividing the pound into 240 pence was a system we borrowed from the Romans and the 'old money' was seen as a link to ancient times.
The Royal Mint was, perhaps understandably, nervous about making the change. But Adam Lawrence, the current chief executive of the Royal Mint, spoke to BBC Breakfast about what the future holds for British coins.
