Saga's Ros Altman: 'Men will lose out' under EU pensions ruling

Insurers have been told they will have to stop using gender as a factor in setting the prices of their policies and pension annuities, from the end of next year.

The ruling by the European Court of Justice is likely to lead to sharp increases in the car insurance paid by young women, who currently pay less than younger men.

The EU move will also have an impact on other insurance premiums, including travel, healthcare and pension annuities.

The Director General of Saga, Ros Altman, said men in particular would lose out under the ruling.
