TUC reacts to Lord Hutton's pension proposals

A Government-commissioned review of public sector pensions has set out proposals for far-reaching changes which would see workers pay more in contributions, retire later in life and earn less in retirement.

The former Labour Minister, Lord Hutton, who made the recommendations, said everyone had to share the burden of increased costs caused by people living longer or we would be "heading for the rocks".

Brendan Barber, the TUC General Secretary, told the BBC it will be difficult to persuade workers to accept these changes.
