Discounters and flea markets change Dubai retail

Despite boasting the highest amount of retail space per person in the world, consumer focus in Dubai is moving away from large shopping malls.

Although new shopping centres are still being built, the market has reached saturation point, and individual spending power is decreasing.

Instead of the giant chains and brands, consumers are showing an upsurge of interest in independent shops, discount brands and flea markets.
