Asia boosts Intercontinental Hotels Group profits

The world's biggest hotel firm, Intercontinental Hotels Group, has reported first half profits.

It made $205m in the six months to the end of June, that is up almost 7% on last year.

The company said that natural disasters in New Zealand and Japan and the upheaval in the Middle East, cost the company $7m.

Richard Solomons, is the chief executive of Intercontinental Hotels Group and he told the BBC he is "very confident about the future".
