High street shops hope for last-minute Christmas boom

High street retailers across the UK have started a big push to catch shoppers buying last minute gifts.

It comes as figures show that internet shopping has become even more popular this year, while shops are struggling in a tough economy.

A significant proportion of many shops' annual sales come from December.
