My Bottom Line: Nigel Whitehead, BAE Systems

Nigel Whitehead is group managing director of BAE Systems. He says he is frustrated how many people in the UK have come to believe that the domestic manufacturing industry is dead.

This is just not true, he says, explaining that the UK is still among the Top 10 manufacturers in the world, employing 2.5m people. It accounts for half of all UK exports and is responsible for 70% of UK research and development. Nigel says UK manufacturing just needs to work on its 'image management' to remind people it is a really important part of the economy.
