Agius: Diamond's resignation was 'a personal decision'

Marcus Agius has insisted that Bob Diamond's resignation from Barclays was a "personal decision", made by the chief executive himself.

The Barclays chairman said he had not been expecting Diamond to leave the company, but steps would now be taken to find a new chief executive.

Mr Agius also confirmed he would leave his role as chairman once a replacement had been found.
