RMT: government to blame for rail fare increases

Rail passengers face increases in the cost of travel, after a surprise jump in the rate of inflation.

Fares in England will go up by an average of 6.2%, while in Scotland the rise will be 4.2%.

No figure has yet been set in Wales.

Bob Crow, the leader of the Rail Maritime and Transport union said the increases could have been avoided.
