Japanese businesses keep it in the family

From South Korea's Samsung to India's Reliance Industries, family businesses increasingly dominate Asia's corporate landscape.

But Japan has the largest number of them - some with very long histories, including household names such as Suzuki.

For generations, sons have always taken on the top job and there has been a unique method to ensure there is always a male heir to inherit the business.

Mariko Oi visited the oldest family business - not just in Japan, but in the world.

Since this report was made, the son of Zengoro Hoshi has died.

Zengoro Hoshi has told us that he will now groom his grandson, who is currently a teenager, to take over the business.

His grandson will then become the 47th owner of the spa hotel and will take the name, Zengoro Hoshi.
