Hurricane Sandy is expected to have slowed US employment figures, with a sharp drop in hiring.

Economists predict the storm reduced jobs by forcing businesses to close and left many unable to work.

This comes after the closure of Twinkie-maker Hostess, resulting in the loss of more than 15,000 jobs.
