Growing opposition to nuclear power plant in Taiwan

It has been two years since the earthquake and tsunami which triggered the nuclear crisis at the Fukushima power plant in Japan.

The crisis saw more than 80,000 people evacuated from areas surrounding the plant, and led to Japan shutting down all of its nuclear reactors.

Other countries in the region have also been affected by the disaster. In Taiwan, for example, opposition over its nuclear power plants has been growing.

Despite this, a fourth plant has been under construction just 30km from Taipei.

The government has spent some $9bn (£6bn) on it already, and argues it is needed - but local residents disagree.
