Osborne: Change of economic plan would be 'disastrous'

The UK economy is "turning a corner", Chancellor George Osborne has said in a speech in London.

Speaking ahead of the Conservative Party conference, Mr Osborne said there had been "intense" political pressure to change course but "Plan B" would have hindered the recovery and "the impact on living standards would have been much harsher".

"Amazingly... there are still those calling for the government to abandon its economic plan... but to do so would be disastrous."

Labour has dismissed the comments.
