'We're giving Royal Mail freedom to raise funds'

The privatisation of the Royal Mail will give it the freedom to "raise the money it needs to invest in the future", business minister Michael Fallon has insisted.

The government has given formal notice to the stock exchange that it plans to privatise the Royal Mail "in the coming weeks", despite strong opposition from unions.
