Payment cards to help Syrian refugees and local economies

The United Nations' World Food Programme is distributing payment cards to Syrian refugees in Lebanon to help them buy essentials.

The cards will be loaded with about $27 per person per month and can be used in selected shops near the Syrian border.

The pre-paid cards will allow the refugees to eat foodstuffs which are not normally included in food rations, as Nigel Cassidy reports.
