India's finance minister talks growth

It has been a challenging year for many economies in the Asia region, including India, which is struggling with a depreciating currency, rising inflation and potentially slowing growth.

Government officials are looking at various ways to help the economy grow, heading into an election year in 2014.

The BBC's Sharanjit Leyl spoke to India's Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram when he was in Singapore.

He gave his assessment of the Indian economy.
