Energy Secretary: Policy is 'real help for consumers'
Energy Secretary Ed Davey has been giving more information about the government's plan to reduce bills by an average of £50 a year.
He told BBC News that green levies and support for the fuel poor would now be funded by taxation and, "The energy companies have agreed, under pressure from us, to pass those savings onto consumers."
And he denied trying to match Labour's policy to freeze energy bills, "It's true Ed Miliband made an eye-catching speech but everyone who's looked at his policy knows it's a con".
