Mashile-Nkosi on her responsibility to miners

Daphne Mashile-Nkosi, the first black woman in South Africa to build and own a mining company, has told BBC HARDtalk her social and labour plans set a good example for the mining industry.

"I had a responsibility and I knew for me to change the mining sector, is for me to do it," she said.

Mashile-Nkosi says she is building infrastructure that can be used by the whole community and is committed to paying her workers a "living wage".

In recent years South Africa's mining sector has been beset by strikes over pay and conditions.
