Bank of England hints at interest rate rise

Financial markets have been reacting to comments from the Bank of England governor signalling an earlier than expected rise in interest rates.

Analysts had predicted that rates would rise from their current level of 0.5% early next year, but they now expect a hike before the end of this year.
