Shell calls end to Alaska oil search

Environmental campaigners have welcomed a decision by Shell to abandon its search for oil off the coast of Alaska "for the foreseeable future".

The company - which has spent billions of dollars on the project - said it had not found enough oil and gas in the region to warrant further exploration.
